At the foot of the Blue Mountain ridge in scenic Berks County Pennsylvania, the hands of time have been turned back to the days of Barnstormers. The Golden Age Air Museum is a living museum dedicated to preserving aviation's golden past.
The "Golden Age of Aviation" is the two decades between the great world wars, the roaring 1920s and the fabulous 1930s. The museum's concentration is this glorious time that included the birth of the barnstormer, airmail, flying circuses and the first airlines. The museum also features displays of automobiles and aircraft from man's first desire to fly up through the 1940s. |

Kutztown Area Historical Society
|
|
The Kutztown Area Historical Society (KAHS) was formed in 1974-75 and incorporated in 1976 as one of the first regional historical societies in Berks County. Responding to the American Bicentennial and recognizing the
need for a local history resource and repository beyond the auspices of the venerable Historical Society of Berks County, founded in 1869, our society's founding members created an organization to serve northeastern Berks, comprised by theschool districts Kutztown, Brandywine Heights, and Fleetwood.
On February 27, 1979, the KAHS purchased the 1892 Public School Building from the Kutztown Area School District. This late Victorian marvel, on the National Register of Historic Places, houses the society's museum and administrative offices. Our museum showcases many artifacts and photographs from the Kutztown area. Our non-circulating library holds many historical publications and is a great source for local historians. The building is also used for activities throughout the year. The most popular event is our Annual Holiday Festival, which is held on the second weekend in November. Regularly scheduled activities include our Monthly Program Specials (third Wednesdays) and the Ten O'Clock Scholars program in April. The Society also sponsors other special events such as quilt and art shows, open houses, trick-or-treat nights, and special exhibitions relating to specific aspects of local and regional history. Tours of the building can be taken, and library research arranged, during any of our events or by appointment. |

The Mid Atlantic Air Museum was organized to ensure the professional stewardship of a collection that reflects the history of aviation and to enhance the public's appreciation and understanding of
that history. The Museum's collection emphasizes the Mid-Atlantic region's unique contribution to flight' but is broad enough to chronicle a general history of aviation, including military aviation.
The Museum's collections are accounted and cared for according to established museum practices.
Historically accurate aircraft restoration and limited demonstration flying are special missions undertaken by the Museum.
Interpretation of the collection is broad, with artifacts being exhibited in a context
that reflects not only the history of the object itself, but also the evolution of
technology and the cultural environment in which it was used.
Public programs encourage participation by a diverse audience
through imaginative, entertaining, as well as educational
exhibits, lectures, demonstrations, and special events.
The Museum is proud of its role as aspecialty
